ABC Wednesday # 09

I am sorry for my yesterday's post. I was in a rush and forgot that yesterday's right letter to post about was not «T» but... «V»!!!!!!
So, for yesterday's letter, «V», I now choose the International maritime signal flag «V» (on the image above), which at Sea means «I require assistance» and, with one or more numerals, means the speed in kilometres per hour. LOL!!! Another funny contribution to Ms. Nesbitt's [ABC Wednesday], of which I am a proud team member!!!... Have another very Happy Day, my Friends!...

ABC Wednesday # 09

(A much Beloved Angel playing a Trumpet, a Detail from the Linaiuoli Triptych, dated 1433)
For today's letter, «T», I chose the «Third» movement of Haydn's «Trumpet» Concerto in E flat major, now playing at Rádio Atlântico Azul!!! It's one of my favourite instruments!!! A contribution to Ms. Nesbitt's [ABC Wednesday], of which I am a proud (but a bit absent, lately...) team member!!!... Have a very Happy Day, my Friends!...

ABC Wednesday # 08

For today's letter, «U», I chose «UNITY», one of the pillars of Atlântico Azul and part of its motoUm só Oceano. Uma Só Cor. O Atlântico Azul»). Briefly, Atlântico Azul represents the great Discovery made by the Portuguese Sailors that all oceans were United. To illustrate it, I chose a beautiful music by The Lighthouse Family, «High», one of my favs from this band, now playing at Rádio Atlântico Azul (with three extra ones...)!!!! And here goes part of the lyrics:
«When you're close to tears remember someday it'll all be over. One day we're gonna get so high! Though it's darker than December, what's ahead is a different colour, one day we're gonna get so high! And at the end of the day remember the days when we were close to the end and wonder how we made it through the night! At the end of the day remember the way we stayed so close to the end! We'll remember it was me and you, 'cause we are gonna be FOREVER, YOU AND ME, you will always keep me flying high in the sky of love! Don't you think it's time you started doing what we always wanted, one day we're gonna get so high! 'Cause even the impossible is easy when we got each other, one day we're gonna get so high! (...)»

ABC Wednesday # 07

«TEA FOR TWO AND TWO FOR TEA»!
(now playing at Rádio Atlântico Azul)
That's the BEST I could find for our today's «T» letter (besides «It takes two to Tango»)!!!... Specially when we add a bit of cinnamon to it with a tiny slice of ginger (instead of lemmon)!...
The «Christmas Tea» has already cinnamon included!...

ABC Wednesday # 06

«S» is for «SARDINE», more exactly the typical Portuguese Sardine, that we all eat specially during Lisbon's Saints Feasts (organized every year throughout the entire month of June)!!! All images were downloaded from the internet, and I put them all together on the next one! A contribution to Ms. Nesbitt's [ABC Wednesday]!!!...

ABC Wednesday # 05

«R» is for «Reduce Reuse Recycle», a.k.a. the 3 R's, which is also one of my favourite musics, by Jack Johnson (I desperately tried to download it for a day, to play it at Rádio Atlântico Azul, with no success... you may click [HERE] and choose the song or... buy the CD «Curious George» - it's wonderful and some of its songs are now playing at Rádio Atlântico Azul).

«Q» is for «QUEEN ELIZABETH 2», who is sailing on her last trip for Dubai...
Tomorrow she will make her last call to Lisbon Port. We sure will miss her...

ABC Wednesday # 03

«P» is for «Pessoa», one of my favourite «Portuguese Poets», who wrote the following «Poem» (translation by Sailor Girl, with the help of MCH):
«Oh Salty Sea,
How much of thy salt are tears from Portugal!
For having crossed thee, how many mothers have cried,
How many children have prayed in vain!
How many fiancés remained unmarried,
So that you could be ours, Oh Sea!
Was it worth it?
Everything is worth it when the soul is not small.
Who dares to go beyond the Bojador
must go beyond the pain.
God to the sea danger and the abyss gave,
but in it He mirrored the sky.
* * * * *
Ó mar salgado,
Quanto do teu sal são lágrimas de Portugal!
Por te cruzarmos, quantas mães choraram,
quantos filhos em vão rezaram!
Quantas noivas ficaram por casar
Para que fosses nosso, ó mar!
Valeu a pena?
Tudo vale a pena se a alma não é pequena.
Quem quer passar além do Bojador,
tem que passar além da dor.
Deus ao mar o perigo e o abismo deu,
mas nele é que espelhou o céu. »
