PROJECT BLUE - TAKE 2

Today's photo (by Sailor Girl) is Take 2 for Anna Carson's [PROJECT BLUE]. It depicts a passengers list aboard an ancient portuguese passengership named «SANTA MARIA» (one of those marvellous portuguese ships I do not understand why they had to be scrapped).
And now, for someting completely different, a wonderful recipe (Bolo de Congelador) I've just stollen from this Cape Verdian [SITE], recommended to me by Klatuu, o Embuçado!!! The respective translation will be added as soon as possible...
Ingredientes:
  • 200 g de manteiga
  • 100 g de chocolate em barra
  • 125 g de açúcar
  • 3 ovos
  • 250 g de bolacha Maria

Derreter a manteiga e bater.

PROJECT BLUE - TAKE 1

(Flag of Atlântico Azul - copyright Raquel Sabino Pereira)
Today's photo is Take 1 for Anna Carson's [PROJECT BLUE]. It depicts the flag of this blog Atlântico Azul (Atlantic Blue), and was taken by Portuguese photographer António Homem Cardoso. It normally identifies the traditional sailing barges of [MOITA] and [SEIXAL] in their races at River Tagus and other sailing ships along the Portuguese Coast, like the annual races to the islands of Berlengas, promoted by [JOÃO VEIGA] and friends and the annual races at [ALHANDRA].
Quem desejar adquirir bandeiras deverá contactar o [CENTRO NÁUTICO MOITENSE] ou o fabricante das mesmas, Bandeira Sul, através de email para [Luís Costa].

Va tacito e nascosto...

The Cloud Maker
(Photo by Sailor Girl. Click to better view)
Va tacito e nascosto is an aria from Act I, Scene 3 of the Italian opera Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar) by George Friederic Händel. The aria is sang by Giulio Cesare, emperor of Rome, at the palace of Tolomeo (Alexandria, Egypt), in the year 48 BC. Tolomeo and Caesar meet in a banquet. When Tolomeo subtly threatens him, Caesar responds, saying that he will be on guard against any violence Tolomeo has planned.

Here goes the lyrics of this aria, which was playing at Atlântico Azul when posted, and its translation into English language (with the help of Bucefalo and Fabbrizio, our Italian CDPB Friends):

«Va tacito e nascosto, quand'avido è di preda, l'astuto cacciator. E chi è a mal far disposto, non brama che si veda l'inganno del suo cor.

He goes silent and concealed, when eager for prey, the sly hunter. And who disposes himself to do harm doesn't covet to see the deception within his heart».

A TODAS AS PESSOAS MÁS DESTA VIDA QUE NÃO NOS LARGAM...

... E QUE DISFARÇAM A SUA MALDADE PROFUNDA E GRATUITA NUMA INSANIDADE FINGIDA, COMOVENTE E QUASE CONVINCENTE: UM POUCO DE CÉU. MUITA FALTA LHES FAZ. QUE DEUS LHES PERDOE, POIS EU SÓ QUERO É ESQUECER QUE EXISTEM E VIVER A MINHA VIDA DE FORMA HONESTA E FELIZ, SEMPRE GRATA A DEUS POR TODAS AS SUAS BENÇÃOS E POR TODAS AS COISAS E MOMENTOS QUE ME CONCEDE EM EMPRÉSTIMO.
Today's post is dedicated to all really mean people who keep stalking us and who disguise their evilness in a faked, touching and almost convincing insanity: A PIECE OF HEAVENLY SKY. They sure need it. May God forgive them, as I only want to forget that they exist and live my Life in a honest and happy way, always thankful to God for all His blessings and beautiful things and moments He so kindly loans me.

OBRIGADA, JC!!

(Prince charming Frog, photographed by Sailor Girl.
Tried to kiss him, but he swam away...)
«You wait your whole life to find Someone who understands you and accepts you the way you are. At the end, you find out that Someone, all that time, was You».
«Esperas toda a tua vida para encontrar Alguém que te compreenda e aceite como és. No final, descobres que esse Alguém, todo esse tempo, eras Tu».
Sent by [JC], sempre atento aos meus gritos lancinantes (os que chegam até ao farol de Santa Marta)...
This post goes along with the first music now playing at Radio Atlântico Azul (on the right column of this blog), «Pulled up», by Talking Heads (one of my favourite bands!!). Here goes the lyrics (as a comment to this post)

NOTHING BUT SEA AND SKY

(Photo by Sailor Girl, of the same Lighthouse of Cabo da Roca, the westernmost place in Europe, as seen from Guincho, Cascais, near Lisbon)
I stand as on some mighty eagle’s beak,
Eastward the sea absorbing, viewing
Nothing but sea and sky,
The tossing waves, the foam,
The ships in the distance,
The wild unrest, the snowy, curling caps
That inbound urge and urge of waves,
Seeking the shores forever.
