O Amigo João Coelho informou-nos que a RTP 1 passou hoje, no Telejornal das 13h00, uma reportagem sobre o USNS "MERCY", com entrevista ao médico Nelson Olim! «É natural que a repitam no jornal das 20h00. Ainda bem, desta vez!», refere!

Não pude deixar de ir ao site da nossa fantástica Televisão Portuguesa e lá estava! A notícia começa às 13h33 e termina às 13h35 (vão [AQUI] e movam o cursor até se aproximarem da hora).

Amanhã é o Aniversário do CREOULA!

Nasceu em 10 de Maio de 1937, mas continua jovial e belíssimo, graças ao esmerado cuidado e dedicação permanente da Marinha Portuguesa, que por isso está igualmente de Parabéns. Em 2007 tive a enorme felicidade de participar na Festa do seu 70.º Aniversário. Este ano já está felizmente a navegar, embarcando hoje instruendos do CNOCA e regressando à Base Naval do Alfeite no Domingo. Estará temporariamente fundeado na Baía de Cascais (provavelmente Sábado ou Domingo), por isso recomendo a todos um passeio pela Marginal de Cascais, pode ser que tenham uma bela surpresa! Não se esqueçam de vir [AQUI] deixar-lhe um comentário com votos de Feliz Aniversário! E, já agora, visitem o blogue do seu irmão-gémeo [Santa Maria Manuela]!...

She was born in May 10, 1937, and is still young at heart and even more beautiful than ever, thanks to the extreme care and permanent dedication by the Portuguese Navy. Last year I had the pleasure to attend to her 70th Anniversary Party. This year she is already on duty, with participants from CNOCA. MY VALENTINE SINCE 1988!!!

To Clarice de Saint Malo & To all Friends all over the World

These photos depict Lisbon as viewed from the River Tagus (# 1) and the Training Ship BELEM, a beautiful French Tall Ship (almost as beautiful as [CREOULA] hehehe), at Saint Malo (# 2). You CAN and SHOULD take a look at their Programme for this coming Spring and Summer [HERE].

As a quick outlook, please note that:

• Belem will be open to public on the following ports (Le Belem sera ouvert au public dans les ports suivants): a) 30 March 2008: Brest; b) 06 April 2008: Saint Malo; c) 19 April 2008: Calais; d) 08 May 2008: La Rochelle. She will be the guest of honour of this french city, from where she will depart to the Atlantic Crossing to Québec. Belem est l'invité d'honneur de La Rochelle, qui l'accueillera dans le Vieux port pour participer aux festivités du départ de la Grande Traversée La Rochelle – Québec.

• Several opportunities to sail on the Great Voyage of Belem to Québec (Le Grand Voyage du Belem à Québec):

1. Bordeaux – Madère (Madeira Island, Portugal): 19 - 29 May 2008 (€ 1200);
2. Boston (or Halifax) – Québec: 22 (or 25) June to 01 July 2008 (€ 1000 or € 850);
3. Gaspé – Marseille: 28 July to 30 August 2008: € 3400;
4. Gaspé – Lisbon (Portugal): 28 July to 19 August 2008 (€ 2400) - This is the first part of the Great return Voyage: 24 days crossing the Atlantic Ocean with two calls to St Pierre & Miquelon and to the Azores Islands (Portugal). It will end at Torre de Belém, our beautiful Lisbon Monument! I WILL TRY TO REGISTER ON THIS ONE! Première partie du Grand Voyage de retour : 24 jours de traversée de l'Atlantique au portant à bord d'un trois-mâts à phare carré, et 2 escales à St Pierre & Miquelon et aux Açores. Ce voyage s'achèvera au pied de la Tour de Belém à Lisbonne.
5. Lisbonne – Marseille: 21 - 30 August 2008 (€ 1000);

I’ve been tagged by [Gordon], from Adelaide (South Australia) to play along in the New Year's Resolution game. He was tagged by Carol Anne of [Arkansas Times]. Here is how the game goes:

When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions we seem to fall into four categories:

1. Quite serious about them;
2. Flippant about them;
3. Pressured to do them; or
4. Do not do them.

So, the purpose of this little game is to let us know which category you are in. I will give mine, then tag 3 other sites to do the same thing. I think I fall into category 3 (though sometimes I do not do them at all). I have a couple of ongoing goals/resolutions which are to take my driver's licence, to eat less chocolates, to quit smoking, to go on vacations, preferably aboard my favourite ship «CREOULA». To achieve these I will probably need psichological support... And a little help from my Friends!!...

REVISTA DA ARMADA

This is the frontpage of the January/2008 issue of Revista da Armada (Navy Review). This picture depicts the Ceremony held at the Tower of Belém, Lisbon, evoquing the 200th Aniversary of the Departure of the Portuguese Royal Family to Brasil. My favourite ship, «CREOULA», was also there (look, you may find her beautiful masts behind the soldiers on the right)

NOTÍCIA DE ÚLTIMA HORA

O irmão do ["CREOULA"] e antigo bacalhoeiro "ARGUS" apresenta um futuro incerto nas Caraíbas, decorrente da falência do respectivo armador. Uma boa oportunidade para fazer regressar a Portugal este símbolo da epopeia da pesca do bacalhau, para assim fazer reunir novamente os três irmãos: "CREOULA", ["SANTA MARIA MANUELA"] (em recuperação) e o "ARGUS"!...

Associado aos 500 anos da cidade do Funchal: Dia da Marinha na RAM

Está confirmado!!!

Em 2008 o Dia da Marinha será comemorado na Madeira, em mais uma festa associada aos “500 Anos da Cidade do Funchal”. A confirmação que faltava, quando o Jornal da Madeira abordou a questão em primeira mão no início de Outubro, chegou agora e já durante o próximo mês de Janeiro virá à Madeira uma delegação do Estado Maior da Armada para dar início aos preparativos que permitam que os navios da Marinha Portuguesa se desloquem para o Funchal na segunda quinzena de Maio.

O Dia da Marinha, que se assinalou este ano nos Açores, comemora-se a 20 de Maio e levará até à Madeira a maior parte dos vasos de guerra portugueses, incluindo fragatas, corvetas e até submarinos, helicópteros e navios anfíbios.

Ontem, uma fonte do Comando Naval em Lisboa também confirmou ao Jornal da Madeira que é dada como certa a presença da SAGRES ou do [CREOULA], estando apenas por definir qual destes históricos navios acompanhará os restantes da Armada na deslocação ao Funchal, que vai receber, depois de Ponta Delgada, nos Açores, a fina-flor da Marinha de Guerra Portuguesa durante cerca de uma semana. As comemorações do Dia da Marinha aconteceram já uma vez na Madeira, no início dos anos 80, com a deslocação, na altura, de mais de duas dezenas de meios da Armada lusitana para a baía do Funchal. Na altura, o General Ramalho Eanes, Presidente da República, era o Comandante Supremo das Forças Armadas e nesse ano as comemorações do Dia de Portugal foram centradas também na Madeira. O Estado Maior da Armada aceitou o convite endereçado pelo Governo Regional e pela autarquia funchalense e agora prepara tudo ao pormenor para deslocar para a Região os meios que certamente farão as delícias de todos quantos admiram os meios navais, numa altura em que a Marinha está em franca reestruturação, com a construção dos “patrulhões” que provavelmente virão servir a Zona Economica Exclusiva da Madeira dentro de alguns anos.
