Recomendo vivamente o sketch dos GATO FEDORENTO referente a um Programa de TV sobre o atum. Por me estar vedado o acesso ao YouTube, optei por transcrever o sketch, que está FANTÁSTICO. Mas se puderem vejam o video. É fabulosa a entoação que o Senhor Manuel Moreira dá às palavras ATUM e FAINA!... Aqui vai:

• Atum, um simples peixe ou algo mais do que isso? Não, é mesmo só um peixe.Temos hoje connosco o senhor Manuel Moreira, o maior especialista português vivo em atum. Boa noite senhor Manuel Moreira...
• Boa noite....
• Fale-nos um pouco do atum.
• Ora bem, eu pesco ATUM. Faço colecção de ATUM. Sou um apaixonado por ATUM. Sou naturalmente contra qualquer lei que impeça o matrimónio entre o homem e o seu ATUM. É uma vergonha viver num país em que isso acontece.
• Claro. Para as pessoas perceberem lá em casa, qual é o aspecto de um atum?
• Ora ainda bem que faz essa pergunta, porque eu trago justamente hoje aqui comigo um atum. Anda cá, anda cá Ramirez, anda aqui ao senhor.

(Aparece, então, no écran um cão a quem o senhor Moreira faz festas. O entrevistador faz, obviamente uma cara de espanto)

• Um atum, pesquei-o hoje. Um ATUM, de 37 quilos.
• Portanto, isto é um atum?
• Isto é um ATUM.
• Não parece nada um atum...
• Não parece, pois não, parece um bacalhau, só que o bacalhau é maior e relincha. O Ramirez...
• Sabe, eu acho que isto não é um atum...
• Não é um ATUM?
• Estou convencido que isto...
• Vem-me agora um menino da cidade ensinar-me a mim sobre o que é que é um ATUM, a mim que ando há 40 anos na FAINA!
• Desculpe, há 40 anos na faina não anda, porque claramente o senhor não tem mais de 27.
• Há 27 anos na FAINA!
• Não anda há 27 anos na faina, não nasceu e foi para a faina. Isso é impossível.
• Há 22 anos na FAINA!
• Não anda há 22 anos na faina. Foi com 5 anos para a faina?...
• Há 12 anos na FAINA! Não vai...
• Aos 15 anos ninguém anda na faina, desculpe.
• Duas semanas e meia na FAINA!
• Ok, duas semanas e meia tudo bem, mas isto não é um atum.
• Desculpe lá, isto é um ATUM.
• Se isto é um atum, como é que respira fora de água?
• Aí 'tá, não respira. Exactamente! Não vê que o bicho até se está a sentir mal... 'tá aqui que parece um cão.
• Foi o programa de hoje sobre o atum. Amanhã não perca mais um Gato Fedorento, desta feita subordinado ao tema 'a girafa'.
• A girafa? Vão para a neve?
• Boa noite.
• Na neve não há ATUM!

Mother Santa loves Dogs!

This Christmas I really needed to post a photo of «Mother Santa» for a change, because of igualitarism and all and other recent reivindications within the European "Union"! So I found this wonderful image of a great soul singer, Mariah Carey, carrying this nice Dog! Though her songs are not quite my style, now I got to love her more, knowing that she LOVES dogs! Merry Christmas to all and Happy Hannukah also!...

So many blogs, so little time...

Sailor Mom is always preaching about my blog... Because people are fed up with it as I don't have as many comments as I used to, because the posts stink, because I don't post poems and stuff as I used to, because of this and because of that, etc! I've already told her she can create her own blog if she doesn't like mine, but she's «too busy for that» (sic). Good grief...

In response to those infamous accusations, I take the liberty to bring up to this post a nice comment received from our Friend and colleague from CDPB-Tasmania, [Kris McCracken], which reflects all bloggers' problems related to time... I also have this kind of problem... So much heavy paperwork in hands and so little time to post and to pay visits to my dear friends and their awsome blogs as regularly as I wanted to! So here it goes:

I have been doing the rounds via Bloglines and looking at all the pictures from my favourite photo blogs, but haven’t been leaving comments. Generally, I try to comment as much as I can (I know how good it is for ‘morale’ to know that someone is out there appreciating them), but after the birth of my second son, I am a bit knackered to think up something witty and insightful on the hop. My Australian Friend Kitty, from [KITTY ART], has tagged me for a meme, so I have to list four of my favourite jobs, four of my favourite local places, four of my favourite foods, four of my favourite international places and four people who I am tagging. So here it goes, on a sailor’s point of view (of all my «official jobs», I guess the only one I really enjoyed A LOT was at a Law Firm in Mozambique, back in 1998, though it got quite dread and I had to come home):

1. Four of my favourite jobs

a) Assistant to the Steer wheel of CREOULA: preferably on the shift from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m., watching the sun rising slowly and the wind passing through your face and hair… drinking a hot chocolate… and steering the ship to Wonder Land... b) Assistant to the Cooker at CREOULA’s kitchen: peeling tons of potatoes and vegetables and fruits or baking huge cakes, while listening to some HEAVY ROCK and some times drinking a beer with the kitchen swinging all over the place… c) Assistant to the Engineer of CREOULA’s engine: at the heart of the ship, really down below, with the smell of oil and the heat temperature really high, with no fresh air, no windows, the ship balancing and jumping!... Feeling the heart beating fast forward!!!... YES!... d) Assistant to the Sailor washing CREOULA’s decks and shining the brass navigational instruments and other equipment: when it is already HOT outside at 8.30 a.m. and we can spread water all over the 50 meter deck!! Brass shining can also be very relaxing... you have time to think and meditate while doing some hand work for a change...

2. Four of my favourite local places

a) Belém Quarter, in Lisbon: You have everything there!!! From the Cultural Center, to the Jeronimo’s Monastery, the Maritime Museum and the Planetarium, to the President’s Palace and the Factory of «Pastéis de Belém» (the well known and unique in the world custard cakes…) and the Picanha Restaurant and the Gardens and The Tower of Belém and the Docks!!! YES! b) Estoril and Cascais, near Lisbon: My BirthPlace!!! It is quite cool!... c) The Tagus: the most beautiful river in the World!!! d) The local beaches and swimming pools: Where you get the chance to relax and get a beautiful sun-tan!!! 3. Four of my favourite foods

a) Plain natural yoghurt mixed with fresh plain cheese; b) «Sushi» and «Sashimi» with «Caipirinha»; c) «Croudités» with yoghurt; d) And a really big, raw and tasty T-bone steak, for a change!... 4. Four of my favourite international places a) Copenhagen: the beautiful port and the Jazz Club called «Take Five»; b) London: everything and the Park Lane!!! c) The Savannah in Angola: with thundering in the skies… and the smell of the hot soil after a sudden and quick rain! WOW!... d) Anywhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, specially the Azores Islands! 5. And the four lucky people I'm tagging are: a) Escorpião Tenhoso, from [GATO PARDO], in Lisbon; b) Koluki, from [KOLUKI], in London; c) Caniche Vagabundo, from [CANICHE VAGABUNDO], in Lisbon; d) Lisbon Girl, from [LISBOA], in Lisbon. HAVE FUN, MATES!!!...
