LATEST NEWS * ÚLTIMA HORA

(Photo «Would you be so kind and move away? Can't you see our flags?! We have Priority!!», by Sailor Girl)
  1. BREAKING NEWS * LA CRÈME DE LA CRÈME: Bem-haja à [i Online], por me aceitarem como iRepóter e estarem a divulgar a Regata Atlântico Azul!!! * Dear Blogger Friends! I am now an iReporter of the Portuguese newspaper [i Online]!!! How 'bout that, Leif Hagen, huh?! This is the first time I get some news published!!!...
* By extraordinary coincidence, August 15th is not only the day I met the sailing Barges of the Tagus (at Cascais, in 2005), but also the Birthday of our Dear SAINT ANTHONY (born in Lisbon, Portugal, and deceased in Padua, Italy). Last but not the least, the typical sailing Barge «SANTO ANTÓNIO» will be participating in next Saturday's Race!...
  3. Our Dear Friend [DINA] pointed out a beautiful poem about the SEA at this [POST], by her blogger friend [SPACEDLAW]. Shalom, Dina!!...
THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED DURING THE DAY. * ESTE POST ESTARÁ HOJE EM ACTUALIZAÇÃO PERMANENTE.

«S» is for «SARDINE», more exactly the typical Portuguese Sardine, that we all eat specially during Lisbon's Saints Feasts (organized every year throughout the entire month of June)!!! All images were downloaded from the internet, and I put them all together on the next one! A contribution to Ms. Nesbitt's [ABC Wednesday]!!!...

Saint Vincent (2)

Another perspective of the monument to Saint Vincent, located at Largo das Portas do Sol (Plaza of the Doors of the Sun), in Lisbon. This place has one of the best views over Lisbon and the Tagus. Below you may find part of the outstanding view over the Tagus.

Photo taken by Sailor Girl at Miradouro de Santa Luzia (Largo das Portas do Sol), where the monument to Saint Vincent stands. The view is breathtaking.

Saint Vincent

Photo by Sailor Girl of Saint Vincent, Lisbon’s Patron Saint. Click to better view the details, specially his expression while carrying a sailing ship with two crows on his left hand. * Adenda * The legend says that two sacred crows kept a permanent vigil aboard the ship that carried the mortal remains of the saint from Cape Saint Vincent (Southern Portugal) to Lisbon in 1173. The crows and the ship became later the symbol of the city of Lisbon.
