The building of «Diário de Notícias»

Diário de Notícias is an important daily newspaper with headoffices at this building, located at Liberty Avenue near the Marquis of Pombal Square, in Lisbon. It was founded in Lisbon on December 29, 1864 by Tomás Quintino Antunes and Eduardo Coelho. It gradually became one of the best known Portuguese newspapers. During the 1870s and 1880s, Portuguese novelist Eça de Queiroz, working then in England at the Portuguese diplomatic service, wrote several "London letters" to the newspaper, which were afterwards published in the book [Cartas de Inglaterra], as Wikipedia refers.
When I was 16 years-old, my favourite teacher was an old reporter from this newspaper. He taught us Journalism and journalistic ethics and, being a veteran and an excellent professional, marked me a lot. I miss him and I guess if I had the chance to talk to him right now and asked him why the Mass Media have changed a lot (for worse) since then, he would tell me that this is «No Land for Old Men»...
