«MARVILA»

«Marvila» is one of Lisbon's ferries, made in Germany, proudly operating at River Tagus for ages!!! She normally sails from Belém to Trafaria (also stopping at Porto Brandão, the latter two on the Southern bank of Tagus) and back to Belém all day long!!!

I like how you caught the light on the front of the ferry, and the reflection in the water. Me gusta. :)

I rode on a ferry boat today. From the mainland to Whidbey Island. Always fun, but this was a very short ride. MB

Knoxville Girl : it was due to the always wonderful lightness of Lisbon. Lol for «Me Gusta»! Like the second song playing on Radio Atlântico Azul! LOL!!

Louis la Vache : No boats?? How’s that possible??? I will check your blog, though…

Small City Scenes, it is fun, isn’t it? It’s so good to be on the water!

She is so beautiful, the MARVILA, she is a passenger ferry built in Germany in 1956 for "water bus" services in Hamburg, where she operated until sold to Portugal in 1977.
Since then she has been gracing the river Tagus with her countless crossings between the North and the South banks. The crossing is a must in itself, just like a very nice river cruise for the coste of a bus ride. She is a CACILHEIRO, the name we use to call the Tagus ferries from Lisbon. Her history and that of her fleet mates is told in my book CACILHEIROS...
