About «Mircea»

You may find on the prow of this beautiful ship Romanian King Mircea cel Bătrân. He reigned between 1386 and 1418 and was one of the most important rulers of Wallachia, now Romenia. The byname elder was given to him after his death in order to distinguish him from his grandson Mircea II («Mircea the Younger»). Starting in the 19th century, Romanian historiography has also referred to him as «Mircea the Great» (cel Mare). I will as soon as possible post more information about this.
