ABC WEDNESDAY - # 23 (V)

Photo by Brian McMorrow (downloaded from [HERE]) of the Tomb of [Vasco da Gama] at the Monastery of Jeronimos (Belém, Lisbon). Vasco da Gama was one of the greatest Portuguese explorers, and one of the most successful in the World since the Age of the Discoveries. He was also the commander of the first ships to sail directly from Europe to India. Please check the label «Vasco da Gama» to view more posts about this great heroe.
«V» is also for «VASCO DA GAMA», former «INFANTE DOM HENRIQUE», the first ship I cruised on, back in 1972. A contribution to ABC Wednesday.

Vasco da Gama! The name makes me sail back to elementary school days in America, over half a century ago.

1972? You have been on the high seas for a few decades. Great.

F is for Vasco da Gama! Heavenly photo! May he rest in peace. He must have been tired after all that exploring - good to lay down! LOL

Oh yes, I've heard of Vasco Da Gama! What intrepid people they were .. the sea captains, and their not-always-very-merry crews!

Foi também o primeiro navio onde o meu Pai embarcou em 1975 como Praticante Radiotécnico - Voltaria lá anos mais tarde com Radiotécnico Chefe do recuperado "Vasco da Gama" pena não ter resultado...
